Staying at Aaron's Cottage was such a great experience! We wouldn't have wanted to experience Hilo any other way. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was so yummy...fresh biscuits with eggs and avocado (from their yard!). The Portuguese sweet bread and Liliko'i Butter was to die for. I'm just sad we can't find liliko'i butter in California. Max and Mini (their two beautiful dalmatians) are so sweet and fun to play with. We can't wait to come back and visit!

We have spent the last 5 years on one the Hawaiian Islands. I must say that the week we spent at your little piece of paradise is that one that will be remembered above all the rest and with gratitude and appreciation for your kindness and hospitality. We were comfortable and well fed. I can’t decide which was my favorite for breakfast. Who could say that Hawaiian rice is better than homemade biscuits and passion fruit butter. Then there were those silver dollar pancakes. Hummmm which to choose??? They were all so good. You both go above and beyond to make a stay in Hilo a home away from home with your fully equipped kitchen with all the little extras. We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time at Aaron's Cottage! It was our first night of our vacation and Penne and Alan were exceptional hosts and their hospitality was far far beyond any possible expectations. They made us feel like family and they helped us start off our vacation in a very positive way. I just got home today, to a foot of snow! and I'm missing the beautiful Hawaiian Islands already! I will surely return to Aaron's Cottage whenever I make it to Hawaii again.

Mahalo Nui Loa Penne & Alan!

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Our stay was from 11/6-11/8/2009. Rooms were great, location fantastic and Allen and Penne wonderful. We've always stayed on the Kona side as the hotels in Hilo are not the best. Well no longer, this is a great place to stay. Fresh fruit and homebaked goods in the morning. Most of all the hosts really care about you. Mind you, its not the Hilton - its much, much better. Thank You Again Allen and Penne. We'll see you next year.

Hi, I had booked all 3 rooms for my wedding guests/family coming from out of town. I could not be happier. Penne & Allan are the sweetest people. They made it comfortable for my ohana. The rooms are very clean and they enjoyed it way better than a hotel room. In fact, my cousin stayed there again after the wedding. I really liked the gazebo and the laid back scenery. Penne went far and beyond to make sure my family had everything. She even baked and prepared fresh fruit for my family. Shes such a sweetheart. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable and beautiful place. The kitchen was well stocked. The beach which I like to go fish and swim at is a 5 minute walk. I will definitely refer this place to my family and friends. Thank you Penne & Allen for you kindness and hospitality. You are the best =)

Hi. We stayed at the end of July. Both myself and my fiance found the accomodation to be great. The room was comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. The shared kitchen was very handy. We did not get the chance to meet both hosts, however Penne was very helpful, giving us a short walking tour of the surrounding area and giving us advice about different tourist sites. There is a quiet beach within walking distance. Both myself and Hamish wish we had chosen to stay longer.

Aloha~

Just wanted to thank Allan & Penne for the hospatality. It's been a great experience for the both of us rather than staying at a hotel. It felt like almost being at home. The shared kitchen is fully stocked with basic cooking ingredients and condiments so you can cook whatever you wish or even BBQ outside and enjoy the beautiful scenary in the backyard with very exotic and vibrant colored plants and flowers. If you want to go to the beach you don't necessarily need to bring a car. You could just walk down the road 5-10 minutes and you got a beautiful beach with calm waves and a beautiful view of Hilo Bay and the Hamakua Coast. There is also a little store near by so if you want to buy some quick snack or drink it's just half a mile away...walking distance also. Again, thank you very much for the 2-night stay Allan & Penne!! And we look forward to staying at Aaron's Cottage again soon.

First things first, Allen and Penne were amazing hosts. They made it feel like home.We were a family of 5. we came originaly for 1 night but it was so awesome that we stayed for 2! We loved the big backyard and the gazebo. The 2 minute walk to the beach made our stay even better. We went to the beach so many times. Penne's cakes and muffins were so delisious. The kitchen always had a good stock of sweet fresh fruit and you always had something to snack on. For anyone who's looking foe a place in Hilo, definetly Aarons cottage!

We just returned tonight to Oahu, home! But I had to leave a note about how pleased we were with our stay at Aaron's Cottage in Hilo! Penne and Alan made us feel right at home, and were very kind and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The rooms were clean, the showers with the two seats were wonderful!! The grounds were very well maintained and had I not spent so much time in the car seeing all the beautiful sites, I'd have liked to have spent more time in their backyard oasis! It was a joy to wake up to fresh fruit, pineapple, bananas and grapes, as well as homemade bread and biscuits with Hawaiian honey! We have a 3 year old who also enjoyed the freedom of a yard to play in like she is used to at home, versus a confined hotel room! I can not say enough about Penne and Alan, and the wonderful cottages. We will definately be back to visit, as our short 3 day stay wasn't near enough time to see everything on the island! Thank you again, for your hospitality and for making our stay so comfortable and such a delight! We'll see you again, hopefully sooner rather than later!

We stayed at Aaron's Cottage on Jan 29th. We were a total of 6 adults and 3 children and occupied the entire cottage. Right from the moment we arrived till we departed, the stay was excellent. The rooms are in pristine conditions. The pantry was stacked with cereals, noodles, fruits like papaya, banana, grapes and avocado, basic cooking ingredients like oil, spices, etc. Alan and Penny were gracious to put a quart of milk for each of children. The kona coffee and the homemade cake was excellent. Alan and Penny live next doors - you can always count on them for anything you need. Only regret we have is that we stayed there for only one night - we should have stayed for atleast a week.

What a relaxing stay! Alan and Penny were great hosts - we stayed for a few nights upon arriving in Hilo and enjoyed it so much we made our way back to their cottages before leaving the Big Island. Very close to the beautiful ocean waterfront. Definitely recommend as an alternative to generic hotel stays in Hilo. You can rent bikes from the hostel next door (and attend their tours), plus there is a shared kitchen area right onsite to do some light cooking. Very tranquil garden setting as well. Thanks Alan and Penne!
